Dear Friends:

May the Lord bless you at this wonderful season when we celebrate the birth of our Saviour! I hope that this letter finds you doing well.

It seems like every year goes by faster than the one before. The summer ended with an incredible arts weekend in Tehuacana. Many have said it was one of the best ever. It was nice having the arts conference back in Tehuacana. The arts conference started in Tehuacana about 9 years ago; then moved to Ft. Worth for one year, then moved to Dallas for the remainder of the time until this past summer. For various reasons we decided to move back home! The community building that happens in Tehuacana just doesn’t happen when we rent facilities in Dallas. There are some pictures of the arts weekend online at the web site, as well as a lot of other new pics! Look at the new pics, and you will feel like you have visited the place again.

The Fall was busy with several retreats, a conference for pastors of rural churches, student retreats and personal retreats. We look forward to an equally busy Spring, including student missionary training for summer missions. This is something like the 12 th year or so (I have lost count) that IVCF has done all of their Texas summer missions training in Tehuacana. About 25 or so students will train on several weekends in the Spring in Tehuacana and in the summer they will do summer missions all over the world. We love having them there because it reminds us of the international missions obligation and commitment that we have as Christians.

We have some very specific needs that I want to share with you. Please be in prayer with us that the Lord will send us an Associate Director for the Institute. This person will basically do the job that I did when I was in Tehuacana. If you know of anyone that might be right for the job, pass the word on and have them contact me and I can send a job description. This is a top priority for the Institute to have year-round programming.

Construction continues in Texas Hall. If you come visit me over the Christmas holidays (I will be in residence from December 9 th and would love for some of you to drop by for a visit if at all possible!) we will have something to eat together in the new kitchen in Texas Hall. The kitchen has a beautiful new hard wood floor. Previously this had been the absolute worst room in the building. You won’t believe how incredible it looks now! The kitchen needs to be furnished with new kitchen equipment, appliances, dishes, etc. (we temporarily have old appliances and dishes in it).

Our financial support lags our monthly needs. Just last week I found out that the first floor heater in LA Hall went out and must be replaced. It will probably cost around $5000 for the necessary repairs. We have continual financial needs for the purchase of materials for the restoration of Texas Hall. Below I have attached information on important new tax information. Because of new tax laws your contributions may go a lot farther this year. Please pray about supporting the Institute with a special gift this year.

May the Lord bless you in this coming year.

In Jesus,

Jim Parker
